Bento #24: Quiet Night House

Turkey sandwich with light mayo and nori, gala apple slices, sprout salad,
LOLcheese decorations, and a few scattered Moomins (approx. 190 cal total)

it's raining again and i'm feeling really sad this morning

as much as i would like to take a mental health day though i really should probably go in since you know i only have two classes and tomorrow off

i just don't want to do anything or talk to anyone today really

gamers' guild will be interesting orz

9/29/10

Bento #23: Boring Rice Balls

Top tier: rice balls with umeboshi filling, sprout salad (approx. 175 cal)
Bottom tier: Nutella-filled strawberry, raisins, pickled carrots, cheese and
turkey (approx. 210 cal)

look! a background!

still though i'm the most boring on the days i have the most time to make things i think orz

to my credit though i did start out by trying to make a rabbit riceball and just failed it thoroughly

oh well HERE HAVE SOME YUMS

9/28/10

Bento #22: Rainy Day Sandwich

PB&J mini-sandwiches, apple slices, sprout salad, and cheese umbrellas

ONE MONTH OF POSTING WOOO <3

totally pulling from yum yum bento box again today but you know what

it rained all day yesterday

it's going to rain all day today

aaand probably tomorrow too so i will try to enjoy it somehow

9/27/10

Bento #21 : Traditional Sicky Lazy

Steamed rice, tamagoyaki, boiled snap peas, and a miso soup ball.

woke up with a sore throat and dry sinuses and wanted soup

soup does not travel well

so i made a miso soup ball according to the directions at just bento

hot water costs 20 cents at the cafe on campus so this isn't so bad

should i start listing the calories for mine like maki does?

9/24/10

Bento #20: Friday Scampi

Shrimp scampi, broccoli, and a tomato salad.

SO SHAUNA CAME TO VISIT YAY

she does not really want a sizzler

nor do i

i packed two of these but the two-tier one looks fugly so enjoy this little one again heeeee

nom nom nom

9/23/10

Bento #19: Flat-top Kirby

Kirby ham rice ball, chicken nuggets, omelet stars, and a cheese wheel.

so usually i'm like AW MAN WHAT SHOULD I MAKE FOR LUNCH and then i completely ignore people's suggestions but my super buddy matty flat-top said kirby and i said 'with a flat-top' even though i was joking but he got so excited i had to try

here is your lunch matty

everyone else stop judging me

9/22/10

Bento #18: lUnCHtimE ZOOm

Mr. Saturn rice balls with umeboshi filling, turkey hot dog (nOt PiGGy BOinG),
piggy jelly, peanut cheese bars, and broccoli.

aw aww baby's first kyaraben

i saw the walruses in luckysundae's photostream and also in yum yum bento box and sadly the first thing my little nerd brain said was MISTER SATURN

i will say that this took roughly forever compared to my usual throw-together-some-crap-and-run boxes but it was a lot of fun

i may have to try this again HMMMM

edit: i will never try peanut cheese bars again though asdghfffuuu

9/21/10

Bento #17: Pizzaaaaa

a slice of leftover domino's, pickled carrots, cukes, the last of the slowly dying
strawberries, and some cold cuts

no i didn't order domino's i know someone who did and they just couldn't handle the garlic bread crust and melty cheese and kicky sauce and so they gave me their pizza and now i have to finish it woe is meeeee

9/20/10

Bento #16: Annie's Shells

annie's white cheddar shells, beef hot dog, and a quickie lazy salad

what who just sat around all weekend and didn't cook and ordered domino's for freakin' supper this weekend NOT ME I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT

b-but look i didn't die i just don't reeeeally need to cook every day?

9/15/10

Bento #15: Quickie Stir-fry

lazy shrimp and udon stir-fry, broccoli, and a boiled egg

wow don't those wrinkly peas look appetizing

they weren't like that before i stir-fried them i think they just dried out orz

but but well it smells good and today is a stressful day i'm kind of looking forward to lunch

9/14/10

Bento #14: Tortellini

four-cheese and garlic tortellini, strawberries, and a boiled egg

here have a fancy photo to make up for yesterday

i hope it speaks to you in the same way it speaks to me

it says 'aw crap i have five minutes before i need to be in data structures and i rearranged my room so there are no surfaces by the window OH HELLO BED'

9/13/10

Bento #13: Murphy's Bento

tuna salad sandwich, snap peas, spicy pickled carrot sticks, tomato, plain
yogurt with cinnamon and raspberry

this was kind of a murphy's law bento i mean i dunno if it's the number thirteen or if i just suck today but nothing was turning out right

the sandwich blew up

i dropped half the peas i blanched on the floor

the asparagus i cooked sucked a lot of balls and i had to throw it away

plus all the pictures i took were grainy as crap ffh i can't wait to eat this and get food poisoning or something

9/12/10

weekend

since i have lured in two whole followers i think that in the upcoming week i will stop pretending that i enjoy using the shift key like a normal human being with a firm grasp on the english language

also no boxes this weekend my mom and sister came to visit me in collegeville

AND THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT THESE THINGS

p-please don't stop reading i will make food tomorrow promise

9/10/10

Un-Bento #2: Dinnerrrr

I took a picture of today's sizzler but it looks really unappetizing. You don't want to look at it.

So uhh HAVE SOME DINNER INSTEAD

Teriyaki chicken, broccoli, and leftover rice. INTERESTING I KNOW

I mean do you not totally love my lack of indoor lighting?

9/9/10

Bento #12: Traditional Lazy

Steamed rice with pickled BRAIN I mean plum, broccoli, KATAMARI EGGS I
mean tamagoyaki, and dubious end-of-season strawberries.

LAZY TODAY

Put the rice out to soak in the cooker last night and so the most work this required was pushing down the lever to start cooking when I got up to go pee before my alarm went off this morning. Otherwise? Five minutes, tops.

9/8/10

Bento #11: PUN ABOUT WRAPS

Ham, tomato, and lettuce wrap, baby cheese, banana slices, peach slices,
and a pickle.

On Mondays and Wednesdays I don't start class until noon, so I have a little extra time to do stuff in the morning.

But I'll still make an easy lunch.

9/7/10

Bento #10: A Feeble Attempt at Caloric Balance

Salted pan-fried chicken, baked mac-and-cheese, carrot sticks, watermelon,
and the last sad wrinkly grape tomatoes before I have to go grocery shopping.

So when the recipe said pan-fried I probably should have connected that that meant frying it in a pan and not just kind of cooking it so there's that and oh god my landlord is outside and he has grown a handlebar moustache and I don't even know what to think anymore it is too early for this

9/6/10

Bento #9: Chilibox

Three-bean chili, cornbread, broccoli, and sharp cheddar cheese.

Leftovers make life so much easier.

The red box doesn't make for a very good photo with this one, but it was bigger and I was pretty hungry today. I need more boxes aaaa

9/5/10

Bento #8: Hot Dog Rolls

Hot dog rolls, garlic-sautéed asparagus, broccoli and tomatoes, cantaloupe,
pear, and mini-cheese.

Apparently to make up for the boring yesterday I will eat a little bit of everything in my fridge today.

SO COLORFUL

SO FRESH

SO still not very interesting orz

I need to start practicing decoben. HMMM

Also apparently Blogger has decided that 'verdana' means 'georgia' for the last few days and won't let me change my fonts ffff

9/4/10

Bento #7: Breakfast!

Buttermilk pancakes, sautéed apples, cottage cheese, and a wayyyy-too-salty
tamagoyaki.

So it wasn't until I was already taking pictures that I realized there's not much color interest in this box. My bad. It was tasty, though. Um, aside from the eggs.

9/3/10

Un-Bento #1: First Sizzler of the Semester

Chicken with pesto mayo, lettuce, tomato, and Parmesan and a diet Pepsi. Yum.

No classes on Friday + extra meal swipe = sizzler.

Sizzlers are uh this thing our school does where they put a bunch of stuff in a gyro bread flat whatever and it costs the same as a normal meal. I don't know if other places do it.

But it's good and means I start off this four-day weekend without having to cook lunch scoooore

9/2/10

Bento #6: Hot Dogtopus and More Noodles

Turkey hot dog, grape tomatoes and broccoli (SURPRISE), bs-ed carrot kinpira,
and udon/veggie stir-fry.

BEHOLD THE GREAT FOREST OCTOPUS RULER OF FOOD WEEABOOS WHO THINK OCTOPI ARE CUTE AND THEN REALIZE THEY ARE ACTUALLY REALLY HARD TO FIT IN A BENTO BOX AND THAT THERE ARE NOT ALL THAT MANY BLUE FOODS TO MAKE WATER OUT OF um and also forests i guess

9/1/10

Bento #5: Tamagoyaki and Udon Noodles

Tamagoyaki with apple-cup ketchup, stir-fried fat udon, broccoli, grape
tomatoes, an ugly lemon bar, and watermelon.

Look it's something that actually looks sort of Asian on top yaay

I swear, the easiest way to make anything awesome is to stir-fry it in garlic and soy sauce. Probably even that lemon bar, but I'll try it as is first. Just to, you know, make sure. As a contrHOLD ON WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THERE WAS BROCCOLI STUCK TO MY BENTO BOX THIS IS SO EMBARRASSING WHUUHHHGHH
